Cafe Z, Stoke Newington High Street

Visited: Sunday 24th January 2010, last visited, Sunday 27th June 2010

Interior: Cafe Z is a pleasant bohemian wooden-tabled-and-floored spot, complete with gig and theatre flyers and a buzz that wasn’t entirely bourgeois on the Sunday I visited. Staff were amazingly friendly and the atmosphere enthusiastic rather than cool.

Food: Z do a range of Turkish breakfasts along with the English variety and I had a truly scrumptious fusion of both, involving bubble, eggs, hash brown, tomato and halloumi. Tea was in a large mug rather than a pot, but this isn’t the most greasy of spoons, and eggs were free range. My companion had a Turkish scrambled egg dish with peppers and sausages that I would have demanded he change with me if my own wasn’t so nice.
