The Village Cafe, Highgate Road

Visited:  Tuesday 15th September 2009, last visited Saturday 28th August 2010

Interior: The Village Cafe is halfway between a traditional caff and a cafe in a provincial town. Lots of wood, a really big deli counter (not containing anything too exotic) and a backroom ‘restaurant’.. The welcome was pleasant, if not effusive, and my main gripe was that on a day of torrential rain (when I’d just been swimming in th e lido) the door was propped wide open. Chaps, I know you’re working and moving about, but by definition, your customers are not…

Food: I had beans on two toast, a very generous helping, and an excellent hot bright orange tea.
